Meet the featured speakers:
> Loanne Pichot โ€“ Cerema
Abstract: Experimental Evaluation of an Acoustic Alerting Signal to Reduce Humpback Whale Collisions with Vessels
โ†’ Loanne presents results from pioneering playback experiments off Madagascar, showing that adding a warning signal to ship noise can enhance whales’ ability to detect and avoid vessels. Preliminary findings are promising, and a prototype acoustic alert system is being envisioned for further trials in 2025.

> Aurore Morin โ€“ International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
Abstract: Ship strikes and whales: preventing a collision course
โ†’ Aurore advocates for global adoption of slow steaming and strategic rerouting to reduce collision risks, noise pollution, and CO2 emissions. She highlights IFAW’s Blue Speeds campaign and the importance of collective, international action to protect whale habitats effectively.
